Secret Worlds

“Everybody has a secret world inside of them. I mean everybody. All of the people in the whole world, I mean everybody — no matter how dull and boring they are on the outside. Inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds… Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe.” (Gaiman)

My secret world involves a castle and me being royalty.  But this really isn't much of a secret.  Anyone who was ever in my 3rd grade class when I taught school knows this.

Emotional Rollercoaster

The past week has been such an emotional rollercoaster.  When tragic things like the Boston Marathon bombing happen, it makes me feel physically ill.  I have been weak and shaky for days.  But as I see behind the scene stories of the compassion and heroics of ordinary people, it begins to strengthen me.

Eating for the Chakras

I have been doing an experiment for the last several months that has been very interesting.  I eat foods that correlate with the chakra color that I am focusing on for that week.  It isn't difficult to do as you can see from the colorful fruits in this picture.  There are also many colorful vegetables that go along with this.  It is an interesting way to plan my grocery list and menu!

What if...

What if our religion was each other,
If our practice was our life,
if prayer our words?
What if the temple was the Earth,
if forests were our church,
if holy waters—the rivers, lakes, and oceans.
What if meditation was our relationships,
if the teacher was life,
if wisdom was self-knowledge,
if love was the center of our being.

Life

We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment.

Inner Strength

When we meet real tragedy in life, we can react in two ways—
either by losing hope and falling into self-destructive habits,
or by using the challenge to find our inner strength.
