New Year's Eve...

"Now let us welcome the New Year, full of things that have never been." ---Rainer Maria Rilke

As I look back over the past year and realize all that has occured, I can only imagine what is to come in this new year that is about to begin. This quote also reminds me of the quote from Anne of Green Gables: "Tomorrow is a fresh new day with no mistakes in it." Each of us has the opportunity to start over and do better than the day before. Happy New Year!

The Gift

We have each been given many gifts but at times we overlook them because they require too much effort to develop. What is our untapped potential, our talents, our dreams? These are the jewels of our lives. In fact, our entire life is a gift from God. Are we living it? Or are we frozen into old habits?

Winter Solstice

Today is the shortest day of the year...winter solstice. I am thankful for this day because it means we are moving toward longer days from this point forward. I was reminded today that winter doesn't last forever in the seasons or in our lives. Enjoy the short days of winter that encourage you to slow down and recharge your batteries.

Rest

If you feel out of balance or if you've just run out of steam, the thing you need most is rest. Just quit going. Let yourself lay down and slow down. It doesn't matter if it's on the couch, in the tub, or even in the middle of the floor. Physical rest does wonders for the body but even more for your perspective on things. "Joy comes in the morning."

Finding Balance

We all know when we are out of balance, but how do we get back into balance? It is a daily process...and because of a promise made to a couple of people I love very much, I will share my thoughts, insights, and revelations on this topic through this blog.
