Canadian Tex Mex Snowman

Yesterday it snowed on Prince Edward Island, Canada.  My two youngest nephews along with a neighbor girl built a snowman and gave him a little Tex Mex flavor. I love how they incorporate the things from home in Texas with things in Canada.

Taking Care of All of You

Are you taking care of all of you?  I am eating for the chakras by focusing on foods of the correlating color for each chakra level for several days at a time.  It is very interesting to notice the effect of focusing on each level.

Home Practice

Don't get discouraged if you have distractions when you try to do a home yoga practice.  This funny picture is a good portrayal of what happens at my house.  My cats think if I'm in the floor I should be playing with them.

There are times when it will go so wrong that you will barely be alive, and times when you realize that being barely alive, on your own terms, is better than living a bloated half-life on someone else’s terms

Be Still & Listen

"A golden light is in our midst. It burns as peace, as hope, as love, as God. Feel its healing presence pass through you. Send it to another with a kind & loving thought. Know this: As it heals the inside, so can it heal the outside--for the world is but a reflection of what lies within." (S Myrvang)

The only way we find that healing presence is to allow ourselves time to be still and listen.  Give yourself just 5 minutes.  It can make all the difference.

Spinal Twist

Wring yourself out....like water out of a rag.  And when you think you've got it all...twist in the opposite direction and wring a little more out.

Simple & Quiet

I have been reading Ranier Maria Rilke and these thoughts have inspired me:
"I wanted only to advise you to progress quietly and seriously in your evolvement.  You could greatly interfere with that process if you look outward and expect to obtain answers from the outside--answers which only your innermost feeling in your quietest hour can perhaps give you."
"If you will stay close to nature, to its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable, those things can unexpectedly become great and immeasureable.  If you will love what seems to be insignificant and will in an unassuming manner, as a servant, seek to win the confidence of what seems poor, then everything will become easier, more harmonious, and somehow more conciliatory, not for your intellect--that will most likely remain behind, astonished--but for your innermost consciousness, your awakeness, and your inner knowing."

Flyknit Racers

I walk everyday. Everyday.  For the past 9 years I have faithfully walked everyday.  I can wear a pair of shoes out quickly.  You would think I would get new shoes often, but I don't because I am very picky about my walking shoes.  After much research I ended up ordering the new Flyknit Racers from Nike.  I like them alot!  I highly recommend them.  I also highly recommend walking everyday.  It will change your life.

Your Body Speaks Your Mind

In my studies since my heart problem, I have realized that every physical problem has an emotional basis. The best resources for tracing this are: Your Body Speaks Your Mind by Deb Shapiro & Heal Your Body by Louise Hay. These are books I constantly refer to on a daily basis for myself or family members. Also begin to pay close attention to your dreams, because your body will tell you what it needs you to do. Great resource for dream interpretation is: The Dreamer’s Dictionary for the 21st Century by Kelly Sullivan Walden. The other book that really opened my eyes to the connection of what was going on to my daily life was Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss.

Can I tell you how ready I am for 4th of July?  I love fireworks!  My family has always done insanely big fireworks shows....with fireworks so big you would have to have a pyrotechnics license to do anything bigger.  We even did huge fireworks for my daughter's senior party a few years ago.  Since Texas only allows the sale of fireworks at New Years and 4th of July we had to order the fireworks for the party and have them shipped to us.  This is involved an 18 wheeler pulling up to our house to unload this flammable shipment!  They were amazing!  So if you are ever in need of fireworks at a time when your state doesn't allow the sale of them....call my friends at www.bigfireworks.com .  They will fix you up!

A Spot of Tea

I am a really picky tea drinker....really picky.  Tazo Awake is my favorite tea and I like to make it one cup at a time, not steeped too long then poured over ice.  I thought this was some odd way of making iced tea that I had made up until V & I were on Coronado Island near San Diego and they made my tea this way at a quaint little bistro.  I take this tea with me when I travel but it makes me very joyful when I find it where I'm staying.  So take the time to enjoy a really good cup or glass of tea today!

H-Force Bulldogs

I miss my sister's family terribly since they moved to Canada, but I love getting to be involved in their lives even from so many miles away.  The nephews play hockey and the oldest is on a team they sponser called the H-Force Bulldogs.  I love the new logo!  I am in the process of working on tshirts for the team parents.  Hockey tshirts from Texas for the Canadians...ironic isn't it?
